Requirements to Obtain Certification
*Satisfactory attendance to class sessions
* Prepare six reference notebooks, one for each module including an additional Montessori Philosophy and Classroom Management Reference Book.
*Students must complete a total of five typed essays, one due at the last class session of each module.
*The student will create ten handmade instructional materials to be used in a Montessori Pre-Primary classroom.
*Students must complete an internship in a Montessori Pre-Primary classroom (3 to 6 year olds), under the supervision of a certified Montessori directress. (At least 800 Hours, more preferred)
*The student will keep a journal of presentations and responsibilities they were given while completing their internship. Directors and guides will be asked to fill out an evaluation form on the intern’s performance.
*All students will tour various schools in the area and write detailed notes of their tour and classroom observations. (Minimum 10 hrs.)
*Successful completion of a comprehensive written exam is a requirement. (Score of 70 or above)
Study questions and answers are given at the conclusion of each module.
*Each student will take an oral exam where they will present two lessons from each of the five areas. It is important to be able to pronounce all of the phonetic sounds used to teach reading, therefore each student will also present to the instructor the moveable alphabet and it’s correct usage. (Score of 70 or above required on all oral presentations)
